Velvet Bolster Cushion

Created during the Maker’s House event, a collaboration between The New Craftsmen and Burberry, a one-off, hand-dyed velvet bolster cushion made by Aimee Betts and Harriet Stiles.

Taking inspiration from “Orlando” by Virginia Woolf, the intricate threading mimics the ornate designs of knot gardens and Calvary jackets.

The knitted cord decorating the surface of the piece has been created by Aimee on a circular knitting machine, and hand-stitched onto the fabric using silk thread in an embroidery technique called couching.
